Convert files in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Your images are converted on your own device, in the time it takes to click a button. No account, no queue, and no file leaving your computer.

Your files never leave your device. Conversion happens entirely inside your browser using standard web technologies. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, nothing is logged. You can open your browser network inspector during a conversion and watch it stay completely silent.
Why FileMerlin
-
Private
Your file is decoded and re-encoded by your own browser. It is never sent to a server, never stored and never logged, because there is no server to send it to.
-
Instant
There is no upload and no queue. Conversion starts the moment you click and finishes in a fraction of a second, even offline once the page has loaded.
-
Free
No account, no size tiers, no watermarks and no daily limit. Convert up to 20 files at a time, as often as you like.
How it works
- Add your files. Drag them in, click to browse, or paste an image straight from your clipboard with Ctrl+V.
- Pick the output format. Choose what you want back. Quality, background colour and output size are all adjustable.
- Convert on your device. Your browser decodes the image, redraws it and encodes the result locally. Nothing is transmitted.
- Download. Save each file, or take everything as a single ZIP archive built in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files really not uploaded?
Really. The conversion uses image APIs built into your browser, the same ones a web page uses to draw a picture. Open the network tab of your developer tools and convert something: you will see no request carrying your file, because none is made.
Is there a file size or file count limit?
You can convert up to 20 files at once, each up to 50 MB and up to 40 megapixels. Those limits exist because your browser, not a server, is doing the work.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email and no login anywhere on this site, and nothing to pay for.
Does the converter work offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes. The conversion itself needs no network connection at all, which is the clearest demonstration that your files are not going anywhere.
Will my images have a watermark?
No. The output contains exactly the image you converted, with nothing added to it.
Which browsers are supported?
Any current version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari, on desktop and on mobile. Some conversions depend on what your browser can encode, and the tool tells you plainly if one is unavailable.
